Karoutas, 86, formerly of Haverhill, died Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Holy Family Hospital She was born in Braintree, England Sept.14, 1924 daughter of George and Elizabeth (Moore) Shead. She loved to knit, sing, and spending time with her family, especially at her summer camp in New Hampshire.She was the wife of the late Archie Karoutas. She is survived by a brother in law and sister in law Evangelos and Elpiniki Karoutas of Haverhill. Nieces and nephews Despina and Charles Samiotis and their family of Wayland, MA; Zeses and Stephanie Karoutas and their family of Lexington, SC; Martha Karoutas and her family of Tewksbury. Visiting hours will be held Saturday September 17, 2011 from 9:30 am until 11 am followed by services at 11 am at the Paul C. HAVERHILL James J. "Jim" Gardella, 87,of Salem, NH, formerly of Bradford, died Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Holy Family Hospiital. He was born in Haverhill June 30, 1924, son of James and Louise (Botto) Gardella. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1942. He was a member of St. James Parish, the Pioneers of Western Electric and Local 1365 Communications Workers of America. He was a Layout Operator retiring from Western Electric. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Anne (Nadeau) Gardella. A son James Gardella, Jr. of Haverhill.Two daughters Susan Hay and her husband John of Lawrence; and Anne Marie Legare and her companion Ronald Shennett of Haverhill. A brother and sister in law Norman and Mary Gardella of Haverhill. Grandchildren James Legare and his wife Shoua of CA; E-4 Andrew Legare and Tyler Souther of Haverhill, and E-4 Christopher Legare serving in the U.S. military in Afghanistan, and a great granddaughter Annemarie Legare of Haverhill. A daughter in law Debbie Souther of Haverhill. Three sisters in law Mary E. DeRoche and Catherine Jameson of Haverhill, and Dolores Nadeau of FL His funeral will be held Monday September 19, 2011 at 10 am from the Paul C. Rogers-Scatamacchia Family Funeral Home, 334 Main St. Haverhill followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. James Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. HAVERHILL Ernest Patrakis, 92, died Thursday September 22, 2011 at Penacook Place. He was born in Springfield,MA December 26, 1918 son of Charles and Machina (Couzelis) Patrakis. He servied in the US Navy during World War II. He was retired from the Parks Department of the City of Haverhill, and was a member of the Church of the Holy Apostles, Sts. Peter and Paul. He was the husband of the late Ronnie (Hanides) Patrakis. He is survived by 2 brothers Michael Patrakis of Andover,and Stanley Patrakis of Springfield. 3 Sisters Fannie Chakounis of Ludlow,MA, Claire Somers of Springfield, MA and Angie Porter of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday September 26, 2011 at 12:30 pm at the Paul C. Rogers-Scatamacchia Family Funeral Home, 334 Main St. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday morning preceding the funeral service from 10 am to 12:30. HAVERHILL Gloria Augusta, 86,of died Saturday October 1, 2011 at The Oxford. She was born in Haverhill June 17, 1925 daughter of Gaetano and Inesia (Petrillo) Pascucci. She was educated in Haverhill Schools, and was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish. She loved to knit, crochet, sew and cook for her family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Gabriel "Bill" Augusta. Two sons William Augusta of Haverhill, and Robert Augusta of Boxford. A sister Grace Scatamacchia of Haverhill. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held Thursday October 6, 2011 at 11 am from the Paul C. Rogers Family- Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 334 Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church at 12 noon. Burial will be in St Patrick's Cemetery. HAVERHILL Lisa M. Shea, 46, died suddenly Monday October 24, 2011 at Beverly Hospital. She was born in Biddeford, ME. August 18, 1965 daughter of former Deputy Police Chief Donald "Jake" Shea and Romaine (Emilio) Shea. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of1983, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Merrimack College,in 1987 where she majored in mathematics and computer science. She was employed as a computer analyst. Along with her parents, she is survived by a brother Donald R. Shea of Groveland,; a sister and her husband Jane and Ernest Yerrington of Manchester, NH., a nephew Preston Yerrington and a niece Abby Yerrington both of Manchester, NH. Her longtime companion and best friend Thomas Hogan of Hamilton. Her funeral will be held Monday October 31, 2011 at 10 am from the Paul C. She had been a resident of Haverhill for the past 52 years. She was retired from A T & T where she is employed as an inspector. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and the Elks Tri-Valley Temple # 1215. She is survived by her husband Charles. Sons Charles Fultz of Sandown, NH; Richard Burgie of Haverhill; Ian Killey and Curt Killey both of Haverhill; Daughters Rosilynn Fultz of Haverhill and Tara Killey of Haverhill. She was formerly employed as a stitcher for Eastern Canvas for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband Retired Haverhill Police Captain John Auriemma. Her son John W. Auriemma, Jr. of Saugus. Two brothers and their wives William,Jr and Claire Hamilton of Dracut, and Edward and Nancy Hamilton of Raymond, NH. A sister Roberta Comeau of Haverhill. 2 grandchildren Alyssa K. She was a member of the Nahant Women's Club, the High Tiders Club of Nahant, and had attended Nahant's Council on Aging Affairs. Mary enjoyed her grandsons, flower gardening, and playing bingo. She leaves a daughter Dolores (Stopyra) Costello of Seminole, FL. Grandsons James Costello, Jr of Nahant, MA, and Kevin Costello of Groveland, MA. A great grandson Kyle Costello of Groveland. HAVERHILL - Mary B. Sudol, age 91, lifelong Haverhill resident, died Thursday evening, January 26, 2012 at Brigham Manor Nursing Home in Haverhill.
Born in Haverhill, April 24, 1920, she was one of six children of the late Thomas and Annie (Dul) Sudol and graduated from Haverhill schools.
Mary had worked as an assembler at Western Electric until her retirement.
She enjoyed gambling at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun and always looked forward to dining out.
Predeceased by her five siblings, John, Joseph, Stanley, Sophie and Katie, she leaves behind several generations of nieces and nephews all of whom were very dear to her.
Funeral services and interment in St. PatrickÕs Cemetery, Haverhill, will be private for the family and there will be no visiting hours. The family kindly requests that flowers be omitted, instead, donations in her memory may be made to the MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or to RosieÕs Place, 889 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118. Robert Rocco Basso, 83, of Atkinson, NH, died Sunday, February 5, 2012.
He was born in Haverhill on December 28, 1928, son of Michael A. and
Iris (Bachini) Basso.
Bob graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1946. He was a
reservist in the United States Coast Guard for 8 years. He was a
long-time Haverhill insurance broker whose business, Basso Insurance
Agency, was located on Washington Street from the 1940Õs until the
1980Õs. For over 20 years, he was Treasurer and Director of the
Haverhill Italian-American Credit Union. Bob was a member of the Sons of
Italy, the Garabaldi Club, Haverhill Country Club and Far Corners Golf
Course. He was an accomplished self-taught furniture maker with scores
of pieces adorning homes throughout New England.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Elsa M. (Grassi) Basso;
daughters Christine Fischer and her husband Jerry of New London, CT;
Patricia Bryan and her husband Kenneth of Winchester; sons Robert R.
Basso, Jr. and his wife Kristen of Amesbury; and Michael T. Basso and
his wife Jacki of Salisbury. He leaves six grandchildren, Ilana and
Gabriel Fischer, Joseph and John Bryan, and Robert III and Charlotte
Basso. He is also survived by his brother, Michael A. Basso, Jr., of Mt.
Pleasant, SC, and a large extended family.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Feb. 8th, from 4-7 p.m. at Paul C.
Rogers Family and Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill.
Funeral service from the funeral home will be Thursday at 10 a.m.
followed by burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of
